FAQs
FAQs
| I want to run the biggest tyres possible. How big can I go? |
We have designed version 4 of the GXR to work well with tyre sizes around 700c x 44mm. In 700c mode you can go as wide as 50 mm tyres (or 2.0”). Note that you can go even wider on the front, with the Ride 415 VGM fork having clearance for up to 29 x 2.4” tyres for a super wild reverse-mullet set up! Note also that there are other factors that affect the ultimate width of the tyre, such as internal rim width and tyre tread pattern. Do not just go by the tyre label. Rider discretion is advised. |
| I want to attach bags. What will it do to the frame finish? |
Stock Ti frames are not painted, but bag rub will affect the surface finish. The lighter, brushed, finish can be refreshed using a fine abrasive pad, but the darker blasted finish can only be refinished by media blasting. To keep your Ti frame looking pristine, we recommend using protective film. |
| Can I use a rack? |
With a wide range of frame and fork-mounted rack systems on the market, and with more appearing every week, it is important to understand which rack systems are compatible with your Curve frame and fork, and how to mount them correctly in order to ensure safe riding, avoid damage and voiding your warranty. Before mounting a rack, we strongly recommend you get in touch with us to confirm compatibility and the correct mounting procedure. This will minimise the risk of injury, product damage and voiding your warranty. Your local Curve dealer, or the team at Curve HQ, can also help you select a rack system and mount it to your bike for you. |
The GXR4 frameset puts Curve's proven gravel platform in your hands. Built around a 3Al-2.5V Grade 9 aerospace-grade titanium tubeset for the right balance of stiffness, compliance and durability, this is the same frame underneath the complete Kevin build.
The mounting layout is built for real use: rear rack and fender mounts, three bidon cage mounts, and top-tube bento mounts, all wrapped around a comparatively long wheelbase that keeps things stable whether you're loaded for a bikepacking trip or riding fast and light.
There is ample room for bikepacking bags on all frameset sizes. To make sure current, prospective or custom bagging fits your frame size please see our Bagmaker Drawing page.

I have owned and loved many bikes over the years and i can say hand on heart that by best buddy Kevin is bar far the greatest!
I mostly use my Kevin for bikepacking, and it has been so reliable and an absolute pleasure to ride. Good up hill and down, on gravel and can handle some single track when needed. Easy to build up into a travel bike with lots of attachments.
Whoa ... this new Kev 4 is amazing - I "cycle" through my bikes on a regular basis - but my new Kev that I've had for the last 3 months is an absolute keeper.
It does everything - and is the closest thing to a bike for everything. I can't fault it - and I love it ! Thanks Curve Crew !!
I have been riding my GXR Kevin for only a couple of weeks, early report….. why didn’t I do this sooner, this bike is amazing, smooth, quiet, compliant. I have completed a few hundred kms with little fatigue after the ride. The team at Curve are amazing, and that’s part of the attraction of this bike. It’s not just buy the bike, “see ya”, you become part of a community with their many social and more serious adventures. Thank you all at Curve. And thanks for making Kevin such a special bike to live with.
Regards, Rod.
I have been the proud owner of Kevin (GXR4) since August.
Just a few days ago, I switched Kevin to winter set-up. Sram Eagle 38x52, so I can climb the steep mountains of the Alps with skis and load.
In summer, Kevin is fast on asphalt with 42x10 and 28’ slicks and on gravel with 650b tyres.
In Germany, the name Kevin is not very popular, but that is wrong for this bike.
Kevin is an absolute all-rounder who shows his strengths on long distances and bikepacking. I love it!
Thanks for the great support.

We are the proud owners of two Kevins one a blue Kevin of steel with 11 speed Sram and the other a Ti Kevin with 12 speed Sram AXS E-Tap. I cannot fault either bike and the Ti Kevin with Sram AXS 12 speed paired up to a 40 tooth crank and 10-52 cassette is the ultimate do anything bike, Two wheel sets one 700C running 32mm Conti GP 5000 and 10-42 cassette for the road, 700c Curve Gravel wheel set with 40mm Gravel Kings for fast gravel and 650B and 2.1" Maxxis for single track and steep goodness covers everything Im likely to ever need.
Look, I only went into Curve HQ to buy some wheels. Instead, I came home with Kevin (Rhino is very convincing) and it is fair to say he has changed my life.
I’ve raced the Pan Celtic, crossed New Zealand, numerous grand fondos on road and gravel, commuted to work, hit the MTB trails, been bikepacking - all on this incredibly versatile bike. I have no doubt that we have many more adventures to come.
On top of that, you get amazing service from the Curve crew who have built an amazing and inclusive community. These guys truly live their values, and are always there to help with any questions and advice you might need.
I’ve had Kev for over 5 years now and it’s simply the best bike ever.
Whether it’s racing cyclocross, smashing out high country road climbs, endless gravel, loaded bike packing, shredding gnarly single track, or commuting to work, this is the best bike ever. Just change the tyres to suit the activity, or do what I did recently and get the second wheel set with a dynamo hub.
Add in a custom paint job and it’s the dream bike for every occasion.
Shout out to the Curve crew too who are all very friendly and attentive to endless questions about all things bikes and adventures.
Kev has been such a reliable ride. He can get rowdy when you put his party shoes on, he can go fast when fling skinny tyres on or he can help you ride off into the sunset in supreme style and comfort.
Kev really is a bike for life and with each passing year I get to know him even better.
I’ve had Kevin less than 3 months and I’m in love! I was so excited the day I picked him up, like a kid a Christmas - hence the Christmas jersey worn on NBD 🎄
I’ve taken Kev bikepacking, on Audax rides and Curve weekly and monthly rides. Kev has done wonders for my confidence on gravel. He is stable, comfortable and reliable. He gets ALOT of attention, stunning bike that he is! Curve is not just a bike brand but a community, fun, inclusive, empowering and knowledgeable. Not only do I love Kev but the community that I feel a part of(even before I had a Curve bike). Only downfall is Kev loves a photo so be prepared to stop for lots of pics!
A ti Kev came to me after two years of riding it's precursor - the steel Grovel (which I adored). I have done everything on this bike - gravel rides, overnighters, things that should be done on a mountain bike, and I even used it as a road bike for the better part of a year. It has never, ever done me wrong. It has opened up the borders of my cycling universe. Kev is reliable, capable, comfortable even on very long days and just a really fun bike to ride. I cannot think of another bike that had had as much impact on the way I cycle than Kev. I would recommend a Kev to anyone who wanted to ride gravel, or even someone who just wanted a really good do-it-all bike. He's great. I love him. You'll love him too.
One thing that has been consistent with Curve over the years is their kindness, high quality service, and their love for cycling and the people that ride their bikes. I've been able to join them on weekly bunch rides, overnight adventures or on the start line of Audax rides, and they always have time for a catch up. They have excelled at creating a wonderful community around a shared passion for bikes, and whether you're riding across the city or across the continent, their enthusiasm is the same. Buying a bike from Curve isn't a walk in and walk out transaction - you're part of their broader community and that's something that is hard to put a price on.
I cannot thank Curve enough for the impact they have had on my cycling.
In the three years I've owned Kev, I've put him through a bunch of stuff he probably wasn't built to do, but he handled it anyway. Sure, he's taken me on multi-day bikepacking trips, epic adventures off the beaten track, and many gravel fondos, but that's what you expect of him.
What you don't expect is for him to guide you down gnarly MTB descents, up and down rocky 25-30% 4WD tracks, or speedy alpine road descents with a degree of poise and competence far beyond his station.
Kevin is truly the only bike you're ever likely to need. Get yourself a couple of different wheelsets and swap the wheels out to match your day. Doing a long day on smooth roads? Chuck on some 35-40mm slicks and enjoy all day smooth rolling comfort. Hitting up some trails? Throw on the 650b's and get rowdy.
Kevin is King.
I love this bike. I don’t have a quiver so it does it all for me. Plenty of on and off road. Have transitioned from carbon and can’t believe the cornering, descending and general handling . Doesn’t seem faster but the times don’t lie.
Beautiful finish, beautiful, handling. Looking forward to some longer adventures when restrictions permit.
HOLY MOLEY GWAQUAMOLEY!!!!
This thing can do anything, and do it well. From cruising the commute, to grinding the gravel, to demolishing the dirt, it does it all. I paired my “Bev” (Kevin’s sister) with carbon 27.5 dirt hoops for the rougher stuff, then chuck on the GY4s for fast gravel and road. It shakes the room like Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Price xxx
My GXR is setup for the daily commute and then a tour on the continent (Europe) and then stripped down for training runs - it is smooth to ride on 700 wheels and 32cc tyres. It looks great. I have 34/50 and 12/34 gears; I would be inclined to look at a 1x set-up but this is hindsight. I no longer want more bikes (my other bike is a Brompton - and this is great as well but in a different way).
This Australian beauty is always ready for any type of riding: road, gravel, by my own, pulling the carrier with my dog... After the first 2 months & 1500km I just want more! Many thanks to Curve Cycling (Abbotsford-Australia) for creating this longlife frame & to Blacksmith Cycles (Toronto-Canada) for the final set up.
My Ti Curve GXR aka Kevin would have to be the best bike that I have owned. After 12 months of riding Kevin, I still love the versatility and nimbleness. No matter what mode of riding, he always steps up. Like a Swiss Army knife he is prepared for any task at hand - whether it be 700c commuting mode or 650b party mode - he is ready to tackle commuting duties, epic day gravel rides, classic mountain bike races or loaded up for weekends of flash packing. Thank you Curve Cycling!
I purchased this frame in July 2018, since then I have done over 9,000km on it. It has been put through the ringer, 200+km rides, commuting, gravel rides in all kinds of weather. Had a few scrapes. It just keeps on going. I no longer ride my Focus Izalco Max Disc road bike unless Kevin is in the shop for servicing. I just don't see any compromise with this frame. It's fast, comfortable, durable, great looking and above all versatile. So, very happy with my purchase. If I was to somehow break Kevin, I would purchase one without hesitation as fast as I could.
best bike i ve owned, hands down
versatile, fast, forgiving, light, the GXR is my best travel buddy on any kind of road, and i cant wait for more adventures with it.
